A Talk With Spencer Braithwaite

After eating a few burgers on Father's Day, I talked to Spencer for a few moments about my talk project and he was in without hesitation. Questions were not planned we just went for it with a single strobe, shoot through umbrella and my Canon 5D classic. For something that was so spontaneous I think the results turned out great.

OVP: How was your life when you were younger? SB: It was good we had hard times financially but we made the best of it.

OVP: Worst situation you have been in? SB: Hmmmmm hahaha OVP: Be Honest haha. SB: Hahaha I was trying to steal this bike well not actually the bike just the wheel and someone called the police on me and my boy. The police chased us and my tire popped and we got caught. The good thing is we didn't have to go to court or anything.

OVP: Can you remember a time when you felt at your lowest? SB: When I was younger moving out of the projects to Roxbury was tough, I didn't know anyone. I left all of my friends. OVP: Have you had a low point recently? SB: Yeah when I didn't get a college scholarship I almost quit basketball. OVP: What happened? SB: Coaches seen me and said I was too small so I worked hard and now I'm playing for the coach that didn't choose me. OVP: That must be a great feeling. SB: Yeah it is, the coach apologized and everything.

OVP: Who is the most important person in your life? SB: My mother.......... OVP: How so? SB: For her to raise four boys it was a lot.... I love her and I'm thankful for everything she has done. Having both parents in my life was very influential to the person I am today.

OVP: So what are your plans after college? SB: I would love to be in radio, television or maybe play over seas. OVP: If you could go back in time and give yourself advice what would you say? SB: Hmm I would say be strong and stay out of the streets.
